Validating Warehouse Decisions Before They Impact Operations

24 Jun 2026

This demonstration showcases real-time emulation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) using a discrete-event simulation model as a virtual warehouse. The model connects live to the WMS via API, receives operational instructions, and executes them dynamically based on simulated system state. This enables system-in-the-loop testing, virtual commissioning, and ongoing digital twin capabilities. Beyond pre-go-live validation, the approach allows organizations to safely test configuration changes, new strategies, volume growth, and process adjustments against real WMS logic—reducing operational risk while accelerating continuous improvement.

3 Key Learnings:

  1. Test change without risk – Validate WMS configuration updates, process changes, and growth scenarios against real decision logic before impacting live operations.
  2. Stress-test real system behavior – Identify bottlenecks, unintended consequences, and performance limits using the actual WMS logic—not assumptions.
  3. Enable continuous improvement – Use emulation as an ongoing operational tool, not just a pre-go-live exercise, to support smarter, data-driven decisions.
