David Shead is MSA’s Technical Operations Manager. He brings more than 20 years of experience in machinery safety, spanning consulting, training, technical leadership, team management, and full project scope delivery. David’s multidisciplinary expertise includes a deep understanding of all energy sources, with a leading knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic safety—an area where he has been on the forefront of practical, compliant solutions.

David is a CMSE – Certified Machinery Safety Expert (TÜV Nord) and a CEFS – Certified Expert in Functional Safety (TÜV Nord). He also holds a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, an Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology, and is a Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) with additional qualifications in automation.

David is passionate about providing support to our team and customers in a way that’s both technically robust and genuinely confidence building. With his background, he’s not just another technical manager—he’s someone who can translate complex safety requirements into clear, practical pathways.
